Yogi Lucky Face Scam
In this scam, the victim, is approached by the scammer and engaged in conversation where he is told (s)he has a lucky face. The scammer will proceed to identify himself as a Yogi from India with special powers. He will write something on a piece of paper, roll it up and hand it over to the victim, asking them to place it with their money in the wallet and place the wallet back in their pocket. It is believed that this is a technique is used to distract the victim and to see if the potential victim has any bills or cash in the wallet. The scammer will continue to talk about God and claim that the victim will benefit from significant financial gains within the next month. He will also state to the victim that someone placed a curse on them, which is the only thing holding them back from getting financial freedom. However, the scammer has superpowers to break the curse, but at the same time, it requires funds from the victim.
In the end, the Scammer will ask the victim to remove the paper which was placed in their wallet and will claim certain things which were discussed during their conversation will be written on that piece of paper. The scammer asks for the rolled-up paper from the victim’s wallet, switches it with his own, unwraps the paper, and hands it to the victim. Some of the items discussed, such as favorite flower, age, wife’s name, etc., will be written on “switched” paper.
The scammer will then ask the victim to place the victim’s money into the scammer’s wallet to break the curse. The scammer will be very persistent and continue to ask for money. Scammer# 2 will be observing both parties from a safe distance.
