Au Pair Scam
An au pair is an unmarried young adult between 18 and 30 years of age, with no children and travels to a foreign country to live with a host family. The young adult is considered a full member of the family and helps with child care and may be asked to assist with light household chores.
The purpose of the au pair placement is a cultural exchange. However, this can morph into a scam where the family is asked for money. Usually, the scammer will ask their targets for money as an advance payment.
This is related to Advance Fee Fraud scams or the Nigerian 419 scam.
